Tarajoq Tours offers authentic and adventurous small group tours in the UNESCO Ilulissat Icefjord and Disko Bay area in Greenland.

We are a small locally owned company with a passion to share our incredible nature with all of our guests. Tarajoq [dara’jok] is an old Inuit word for salt water and represents our great experience and know-how in providing safe and memorable experiences when visiting Ilulissat.

WHAT WE DO

Boat tours and adventurous hikes are our main expertise. Our new boat “Aviaq” is custom-built to the tough arctic conditions and comfortably accommodates up to nine passengers. We also offer private guide service and tailored tours.

ICEFJORD SAILING AND WHALES

“Ilulissat” means “Icebergs” in Kalaallisut, the Greenlandic language. We will show you the frozen giants from the very best angles and in the mesmerizing light of the midnight sun.

The nutrient-rich waters of the Icefjord also means that we usually spot whales at a close range.

HIKING AND EXPLORING

We offer adventurous hiking tours where we reach the trailhead by boat. Come explore hidden waterfalls, secret fjords behind narrow passages and stunning glaciers together with us. Check out our different tours and message us for availibility. We can arrange on a short notice.

We sail multiple times daily

(morning and afternoon).
Whether you're hiking to or from Oqaatsut, our boat shuttle is the perfect choice. We also offer a guided visit to Oqaatsut including lunch.

MEET THE OWNER

My name is Jonas and I’m the owner of TARAJOQ TOURS.
I’ve been sailing with tourists in the Ilulissat Icefjord and Disko Bay area since 2018. My company is 100% locally owned.

Tarajoq [dara’jok] is an old Inuit word for salt water - and that's exactly where you'll find me! I fuel on the never-ending beauty of the Ilulissat Icefjord and the great fun of sharing incredible experiences with my guests, whether it’s sailing in between the jaw-dropping icebergs or spotting playful humpback whales in the mesmerizing light of the midnight sun.

I was born in Denmark, but I’ve spent most of my professional career in Greenland, which by time has become the place I definitively call home.

Besides running my company, I have a degree in Arctic Civil Engineering specialized in spatial planning and infrastructure. I’ve previously lived in Nuuk, the capital of Greenland and in Sisimiut, where I used to have my own 14 Greenlandic sled dogs.
